LWVAAC continues its Sunday Symposium series on February 4, 2024 with a virtual discussion of current immigration policy and action in Anne Arundel County.
Immigration is one of the hottest topics in national news today. Although most immigration policy is established at the federal and state levels, implementation largely falls on local governments and organizations. Immigration policies are impersonal but implementation is entirely human. The League of Women Voters believes it should also be humane.
On February 4, LWVAAC members will be briefed on local immigration challenges and successes by Laura Gutierrez, Chair of the Anne Arundel County Immigrant Affairs Commission, and Alison Flores, Director of the new AAC Office of Hispanic/Latino and Multicultural Resources. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to hear from local experts and share your own concerns and questions. We'll conclude by evaluating whether the League has a public policy position that supports our members' goals. [Click here to review the current LWVAAC immigration position.]
