Calling All Members
April 24, 2021
Each spring, all 700-plus local Leagues in the country hold annual membership meetings. These meetings reaffirm the League’s grassroots foundation and ensure that members guide the League’s future.
On Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11 a.m., LWVAAC will convene its members on Zoom to conduct the important business of approving our 2021-2022 budget, electing officers and directors, adopting a program for the coming year, and providing guidance to the Board about activities, events, advocacy or initiatives that members want LWVAAC to undertake. The LWVAAC Board relies on members’ active participation in this yearly event.
Around March 26, members will receive a digital copy of the Preliminary Annual Meeting Workbook, an important precursor to the meeting. It will contain the proposed budget, nominating slate and program recommendations, as well as each Board Director’s portfolio report to recap LWVAAC’s activities over the current fiscal year (2020-2021). Reviewing the Workbook is a good way to learn about our League. Email [email protected] to request a print copy of the Workbook.
In addition to official League business, the 2021 Annual Meeting will feature guest speaker Kathleen M. Koch, Executive Director for Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. (ACDS), a nonprofit housing and community development agency established to create and retain affordable housing opportunities. Affordable housing has long been a public policy focus of LWVAAC; a study group led by LWVAAC Director Jeanne Jehl has recently completed a review of our League's position.

About Our Guest Speaker, Kathleen M. Koch
Arundel Community Development Services (ACDS) Executive Director Kathleen Koch was instrumental in the creation of ACDS. During her tenure, the ACDS annual operating budget has quadrupled to over $12 million. ACDS serves as Anne Arundel County’s Housing and Community Development agency responsible for planning and developing projects with public and private funds that serve the County’s low-income and moderate- income residents and communities. In addition to creating new affordable homeownership units, ACDS has helped to create and retain over 2,000 affordable rental units in the County. As ACDS Executive Director responsible for administering HUD funding, Ms. Koch is also a key player in the regional efforts to overcome impediments to fair housing.WHENApril 24, 2021 at 11amWHEREZoom
