On Sunday, January 30, 2022, The Capital published LWVAAC Vice President Gail Viamonte's compelling letter to the editor in support of County Council Resolution 1-22.

The Update from the County Executive's Office reinforced our League's message regarding Resolution 1-22 and offered specific actions for residents to take in support.

Resolution 1-22 proposes amending the County Charter to require the establishment of a public campaign financing system for candidates of County Executive and County Council. The resolution will be discussed and voted on at the February 7, 2022 County Council meeting and must receive at least 5 favorable votes to pass. If approved, the proposed Charter amendment will appear on the November 2022 General Election ballot for voters to consider.

County voters, not County Council, should decide whether to implement public campaign financing in Anne Arundel County. Please ask your County Councilmember to ensure we have that opportunity by voting FOR Resolution 1-22 on February 7.
