Unaffiliated voters and Maryland's primary elections

LWVAAC's second monthly meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, February 11 at the Annapolis Friends Meeting House, 351 DuBois Road, Annapolis 21401. Guest speaker Jared DeMarinis, State Administrator of Elections, will discuss unaffiliated voters and Maryland's primary elections. 

Jared DeMarinis became Maryland’s State Administrator of Elections in 2023 after unanimous selection by the bipartisan, five-member State Board of Elections. Previously, he served as Maryland’s Director of Candidacy and Campaign Finance. In that position, he took a proactive approach to election administration in campaign finance, making Maryland a model state for the use of new technologies by campaigns, campaign disclosure and enforcement. Jared has served as an election observer in various countries, has been published in The New York Times, written a book on the history of the Electoral College in Maryland, and presented at national conferences. Jared has a law degree from Rutgers School of Law-Newark and a Bachelor’s degree from Villanova University.

LWVAAC's Speaker Series and Monthly Meetings are regularly held the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at a public venue in Anne Arundel County. Attendance is free and all are welcome. Contact Karen at [email protected] with questions or topic suggestions.
